Common Questions
Are sessions only online?
Yes, I only provide online psychotherapy services.
How does insurance work?
OHIP does not cover psychotherapy.
Many insurance or extended health plans do, but coverage is different for each plan. It’s best to check with your provider before starting therapy.
I don’t bill insurance directly, but I’ll provide a receipt after each session that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Many people come to therapy for different reasons. A common misconception is that you have to be in a serious crisis to benefit from therapy. In reality, therapy can be helpful anytime you want support, insight, or guidance in navigating life, relationships, or your emotions.
If you’re unsure whether therapy is right for you, that’s exactly why I offer a free 15‑minute consultation. Everyone deserves to work with a therapist who feels like a good fit, and this is a chance to see if we might be a match before starting.
How does confidentiality work?
Confidentiality is very important in therapy, and what you share with me is kept private. I’ll go over the details in our first session so you know exactly what to expect.
There are a few situations where I may need to share information, such as if:
- There is a risk of harm to yourself or someone else
- There is suspected abuse or neglect
- The law requires disclosure
Outside of these exceptions, everything we talk about stays between us so you can feel safe exploring your thoughts and feelings openly.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. If you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled session, there is no charge.
If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if it’s missed entirely, the full session fee will apply. This is because late cancellations leave a spot in my schedule that could have been offered to someone else who needs support.
What is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)?
A Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) is someone who has completed the education and training required to practice psychotherapy and is in the process of completing the supervised experience needed to become fully registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Being “Qualifying” means I work under supervision to ensure that the care I provide is thoughtful, safe, and aligned with professional standards.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out—I’m happy to explain more.
